Papiripar spirals into its third edition of experimental pop music, art, film and performance. Between radio waves, an exhibition, soundwalks and a “Polter-Abend“, a hybrid format is emerging: a rumbling poltergeist causing trouble on the radio and beyond. To what extent this ghost also haunts the city offline remains to be seen, as at this point in time the crystal ball is still too cloudy, and we will adapt the programme to the given situation.
Once again, the pigeonhole labelled POP will be transformed, stretched in all directions, blown up and turned back into an eclectic chaos. The core of the festival will be situated in an experimental temporary radio station. The public will be invited not only to receive but also to transmit, by interacting live during special formats such as the so-called „Polter-Abend“ („Smash your favourite hated object in front of a microphone!“) or soundwalks (“Set this bridge railing to music!”).
With discordant energy we close the gaps between disciplines, and through our face masks we shout together: „More art in music, more music in art!”
This year the artist Thomas Baldischwyler sends ten postcards and a letter – To you, too!

// LA NOKTA FINO – LIMITED VINYL SUPPORT TICKET //
Climbing out of the crystal ball and crawing into the record player. Part of this year’s festival is the vinyl compilation LA NOKTA FINO. Ten insomniac tracks from Aksak Maboul, EVOL, Meadow House, Beau Wanzer, No Bra, LAPS, Mentos Gulgendo, dieb13, Itty Michesta & Istari Lasterfahrer and Papierindustrie. The end of the night is looming. Hopefully not the end of Papiripar (despite the lack of ticket sales): Support the festival with the purchase of a vinyl-support-ticket. PROGRAMME
// Papiripar Radio //
Physically airing from the Westwerk in Hamburg, Papiripar Radio will be broadcast simultaneously by international radio stations such as π-Node (Paris) and Resonance Extra (London). The concerts, originally scheduled live, will be transferred to the radio and flanked by rockets, pop experiments, label portraits, anonymous phone calls, cheerful side effects, annoying night loops, speech inhibitions, post-millenial traumas, cookie deleting tips, New Year’s Eve depressions and exceedingly groovy DJ sets.

// Exhibition: Something will happen //

Why do we fold things? Folding is one of the easiest ways to transform the world around us. Let’s think of a simple sheet of paper. By folding it, you can divide it into new segments, change its texture and volume, modify the information it contains. Folding implies mutation, but not only on a physical level. Every time we imagine the impossible, we bend, flex and fold that which we know is possible. Every time we change our idea of reality, we carry out a folding operation. An exhibition with works by Anna Ramos, Roc Jiménez de Cisneros, Anna Irina Russell, Albert Tarrats and Reni Hofmüller.

// Soundwalking on radio waves //
With the crooner, musician and radio playwright Günter Reznicek as a trail guide, Hamburg’s industrial wilderness will be explored with the ears and examined for resonating bodies and sound spaces with the help of test signals. All acoustic events of the landscape exploration will be broadcast live to the world as a musical composition via our Papiripar Radio. Prior registration at soundwalk@papiripar.com is necessary due to a limited number of participants.

// Polter-Abend – Forum for destruction //
The Papiripar Festival invites you to a choreographic destruction parade. Guests can destroy their favourite objects, hated objects or unnecessary heirlooms with a hammer, an axe, or their bare fist. In this way, the festival will create a supervised gathering for the release of pent-up energies. The performance will be broadcast on the radio via installed room microphones in the workshop of a disused parking lot, or directly from the comfort of your home.

PANDEMIC DISCLAIMER FOR ALL EVENTS
Planning a festival during a global pandemic poses great challenges for the artists, the curators and the team. Ensuring the health and safety of all is of utmost importance. In addition to the radio program, we are planning a schedule that can hopefully take place offline under proper hygiene conditions. However, it remains to be seen how the infection rate will develop and what will be possible at the time of the festival. The adapted calender and the possibilities for participation will be published at our website in due course.
